Participation Waiver & Release of Liability

Effective date: April 16, 2026

Please read this waiver and agreement carefully. It includes release of liability and waiver of legal rights, and may limit your ability to bring legal claims against certain parties. By agreeing electronically during registration, you confirm that you have read and understood all terms and that your agreement is legally binding.

1. Assumption of Risk

You understand and voluntarily accept that participation in football/soccer activities, including matches, training, and related events, involves inherent risks of injury, including serious injury, permanent disability, or death.

2. Release and Hold Harmless

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you release and hold harmless The Gaffer, affiliated leagues and clubs, organizers, coaches, officials, volunteers, sponsors, venue operators, and their representatives from claims arising out of participation, except where liability cannot be waived by law.

3. Fitness to Participate

You confirm that you are physically and medically fit to participate, or you have sought medical advice and chosen to participate despite known risks.

4. Emergency Medical Consent

If emergency treatment is required and you or your emergency contact cannot be reached, you authorize organizers and emergency personnel to obtain treatment reasonably necessary for your safety.

5. Rules and Conduct

You agree to follow league rules, facility rules, referee decisions, and all applicable safety policies. Violations may result in suspension or removal from participation.

6. Minors

For participants below the age of majority in their jurisdiction, a parent or legal guardian must provide consent on the participant's behalf. Guardian consent may be required before account activation or participation.

7. Electronic Signature and Records

You consent to transact electronically. Your typed name and checkbox acceptance during registration constitute your electronic signature and are legally equivalent to a handwritten signature to the extent permitted by law.

8. Severability and Governing Law

If any part of this waiver is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in full force. This waiver is governed by applicable Canadian law, unless mandatory local law requires otherwise.
